Who Done it?

So we came home from eating dinner with some friends on Friday night and Kaylee greeted us with one of Addison's brand new shoes in her mouth. It wasn't on the floor, so I figured it was safe. Not the case. The shoe was torn to bits (it's leather, of course). So when I asked who did it, all I got were these blank stares.
Later on that evening, Lucas came downstairs with the other one...so we figure he's the guilty one. Unfortunately, I bought these shoes only 2 days earlier so they didn't get much use. Too bad!

Here's our pretty girl all bundled up for our daily walk.
Doesn't she just look too cute?

More pictures of her in constant motion. I'm really not kidding you when I say, "She never stops moving." Even from the moment she wakes up, she pulls herself up and starts going.

In this picture, Addison had just fallen backwards, but caught herself. Then she didn't know how to get back up and she started to panic.

Climbing stairs

We didn't do a whole lot this weekend. We visited some friends on Friday night and Addie cooperated and went to sleep in their pack-and-play while we played games. That was a wonderful surprise.

On Saturday, my folks came up to spend some time with us.
After a bath, I gave Addison an Alfalfa hairstyle.

By Sunday evening, Addison had managed to climb the bottom stair. The next step, however, is too high for her leg to lift, so she was stuck on the first step and wasn't too happy about it.

We went to the zoo last Thursday with our friends Dana and Issac. Dana is a good "teacher friend" of mine that is staying home with her child as well, so we get to see a lot of each other. Issac is sporting a new fancy neon orange cast!

Busy, Busy

Addie is a busy girl. She is pretty much doing the same things as last week, (...crawling, pulling up, etc.), except now she is cruising a bit and talking a lot. She babbles all the time...mainly saying "da, da, da".

Addie got this new toy at a garage sale and she is so funny with it. It plays music, counts, etc. and luckily it has an "off" button.

Here's a short video of Addison talking up a storm...

Other than that, not much else has been happening. She has starting waking at night and crying out more. Her doctor said that since she's so active and she still refuses solids she could be getting hungry, so I've starting feeding her at 11:00 and I think it's been helping. We've decided not to go to her in the middle of the night other than that 11:00 feeding to prevent a night waking habit. The bad thing is that our bedroom is right next to hers, so we've been sleeping in the guest room in the basement with a fan on really high to drown out her protests. I, of course, can still hear her because I'm usually not asleep. Yes, I still have insomnia most nights. It's amazing how a person can get by on such little sleep. I'd appreciate your prayers that I can get over my sleeping anxieties and become a "normal" person again.
We'll keep you posted on how things are going next week.

This week...

This is what we've been up to this week...

Addie is EVERYWHERE! I can't believe how much work it is to keep her safe. She has bruises on her knees and some on her forehead...I find myself avoiding public places because it looks like I neglect her. I'm usually right by her...she's just quick.

Anyway...Addie has been busy exploring every crevice of the house. She loves the dogs and got really close and personal with them while they were eating the other day. We have always played with their food since we've had them so that they wouldn't be food aggressive and it seems to have paid off. We kept praising them for ignoring her while she giggled at them.

Addie is watching Kaylee eat.

"Do you see how he's eating, Mom?"

Lucas licking Addison's hand. They both like to stare longingly out the window.

Check out our "middle child". He's so neglected that everytime one of us sits on the floor, he comes and lays right across your lap.

We got the proofs back from our professional photos. There are some good ones. The link below is only good for 10 days...so view them while you can.

Beautiful Addie!

Poor Addie has gotten a few new bruises this past week. She thinks she's bigger than she is and is trying more things that she should. Now that pulling up is easy, she is letting go. It's sad to say, but I'm seriously thinking about getting her a helmet. She is irritated with me when I follow her around to "protect" her, so maybe if I can get something on her head I won't have to smother her so much.

My sister and her family were in town so we spent a couple days in Topeka with them. We had so much fun. I miss them already!!!

Here are some highlights of our week:

Beth, Addison, Mom, Joyce and Toby- taking pictures after an evening picnic in the park.

Dad, Ken (my brother-in-law), and Caleb joined us for this picture. Micah was working so he couldn't be there...we missed him a lot though.

Addie found the cabinet full of pots and pans. These are pots that I'm happy to let her play with. She didn't pull them out though...instead, she watched her reflection in the lid. So cute!

Addie finally fits perfectly in those Levi jeans Aunt Debbie gave her when she was born. She looked so cute I had to take a picture.

Toby has started smiling since our last visit to N. Carolina and boy does he practice smiling a lot. He smiles about everything! He's such a happy little guy!

Here's Mema with both her new grandbabies! She just got off work and came home to this!

Caleb held Addie while they watch some T.V. She was actually pretty content in his arms for a short while.

Caleb drew a beautiful volcano and told quite an elaborate story about how they work! Isn't he clever?

Finally, E-Pa held Tobias one evening before heading to bed...so sweet.

Look What Addie is doing NOW!!!

Addison is growing up way too fast...

She's ALL over the place. Not only is she pulling herself up, but she's taking small steps too! I can't believe how determined she is to move about.

Also...Addie is learning sign language. Everytime I sign "more" she opens her mouth wide like a baby bird (if she's interested in what I'm offering).

Since this seems to be a week of firsts, Addison decided to get her first cold too. She's had a stuffy nose and it's been hard for her to breathe when sleeping or nursing. But she's still remained in good spirits.

We had professional pictures taken today and Addie was a DOLL! I can't wait to see how they turn out. The photographer loved Addie and kept saying she'd like to keep her. She was quite the "ham": Miss Congeniality. The only problem we had was trying to get her to stay put! She quickly crawled off once we set her down.

Labor Day Weekend

Addie is crawling pretty fast. We've installed a gate on the stairs now, but we haven't figured out what to do with the dogs' bowls. She worked her way over to them and played with them one night while I was making dinner. It's kind of gross, but at least she'll have a great immune system when she's older, right?

We celebrated Mema's birthday on Thursday and took her out to dinner. Addie munched on veggie puffs and tried out a lemon too! (She wasn't a big fan of the lemon.)

Micah's parents came to visit over the holiday weekend and we went to Santa-Cali-gon Days and the Renaissance Festival. She actually fell asleep in her stroller!!!! Those of you who know Addie personally will find that to be quite a big deal!!! She doesn't even sleep in the car very often so the stroller was a shocker. I guess that's a testiment to how sleepy she was.

Here's Addison playing with the Queen's beads at the Renaissance Festival.

Addie tested out the merchandise at the R. Festival.

Addie and I tried to catch bubbles at the festival.

Here's Ruthann reading a book to Addie before bedtime.

Addison and her Grandpa Hunt.

We went to the KC Zoo on Wednesday with our friends the McConnells (Tara, Halle, & Levi) and the Edwards (Carrie & Kaden). Here's a pic of Addie with her friend Kaden.

We're getting professional family photos taken this Friday. I think they'll be great because Addie is at such a cute stage right now. She's very smiley and happy much of the time. I'll link the pictures once they're done.

She's CRAWLING!!!

Well...Addie's done it! She's learned to crawl. She first crawled last Thursday and she's just getting better at it each day. We went to the doctor for her 6 month check up on Friday and no one was a bit surprised after seeing how active Addison is.
I got a bit of it on video this morning. She's not fast, but she gets around enough so that she's pretty pleased with herself.

Another good improvement is that Addie is finally eating some solids. She's decided that she likes carrots. She opens her mouth wide open like a baby bird when those carrots come out. She also loves those veggie puffs. She's not so great at getting them in her mouth with much accuracy but she seems to like them when they do make it to her mouth.

Six month Stats:
Weight: 16 lbs. 3 oz. (70th percentile)
Height: 25 1/2 inches ( 80th)
Head: 42 cm (50th- she's got an average head now!!!)
*I'm not sure these percentiles are accurate. The doc looked them up really fast on a bell chart and they weren't written down. They seem a bit generous to me, but the important thing is that she is healthy and growing!

Trip to North Carolina

Addison and I just returned from visiting my sister and her family in North Carolina. We had so much fun! She has two adorable boys, Caleb and Toby. Toby isn't even two months old but he's already the same size as Addie!!!
Addie hit alot of milestones while we were there. She's on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth. She's also getting into a sitting position on her own. I don't think it will be too long before she'll be crawling...she's very determined.

Here's a picture of Addison (6 months) and Toby (8 weeks):

Caleb ( 3 years) and Addison

Joyce and "Toby Toa"

Me (beth) and Addison

Here I am holding Toby. I asked Joyce to take a picture to prove that I am good with babies...just not my own. I could get Toby to sleep fairly easy since he is such an easy going guy. His fussing is heavenly compared to Addie's colicky nights. I guess I can't say that I didn't learn a lot from having a fussy baby.

Here's the birthday boy Caleb- who just turned three (a.k.a. "Spiderman")

Addie really enjoyed looking at the aquarium in the Discovery Museum we went to on Saturday.

Here's our big girl whose got places to go...she's growing up so fast!

My mom made both Toby and Addie these outfits so we took pictures of them on the couch.

Of course, our trip wasn't all fun and games. On the way home from the museum, the kids had a meltdown in the car. Here's a taste of what Ken, Joyce, and I went through:

I'm still having sleeping issues, but it seems like the past two nights have been better. I've given it to God and am certain it will all work out. I'd still appreciate your prayers that I will continue to sleep more each night.
Hope you enjoyed the hightlights of our trip!
