Til Death do us Part

This weekend, Lauren (our niece) got married to her beau, Larry. We got to spend time with our family from Ohio and California. Angela and her family stayed with us so we got to know each other really well. They all left this morning & we already miss them.

The bride sang to her groom...it was very lovely. They both seem very happy!!! Rowan was the prettiest little flower girl!

Addie managed to get achold of a chocolate covered marshmallow.

Addie made me late to the rehearsal for the wedding because she decided to paint her nails without any help. She woke up from her nap, and instead of calling out to us to come get her, she pulled a bag off the hook beside her bed and proceeded to paint...only instead of just her nails...she painted EVERYTHING! As a result of this escapade, we now have a ruined wood floor, kitchen table, crib, bathtub, sheet, bumperpad, shirt, panties, & shorts and two towels! Micah ran to CVS to get some more nail polish remover and he and Angela went to town on her skin. Meanwhile I had to leave to practice my song at the rehearsal. It was quite a fiasco...but funny in hindsight.

Family Reunion

We had the first annual Tilbury Reunion last weekend in Chicago where my Aunt Jan & Uncle Bob live. I don't think we've ever all been together in the same city but it's been since my Grammy died ten years ago that I've really seen much of my mom's family. We had all these cousins & their kids that we've never even met. What's amazing to me is just how spread out we are. Just from our family we saw this weekend, we had folks from Florida, Tennessee, Washington DC, Washington (the state), Chicago, Missouri, Kansas, & North Carolina!!! That doesn't include the cousins that live in Australia, Colorado, & Texas! We ended up having a wonderful time and are looking forward to a reunion in 2010.

Meet the Tilbury Clan:

The Tilbury kids from Bendena, Kansas: Kathy, Bob, Sharon (aka: mom), Larry

The Tilbury siblings with their spouses: Dean & Kathy, Bob & Jan, Diane & Larry, Sharon & Earl (my folks)

Proof---that Toby & Addie Sue do get along...sometimes!

Some of us cousins...there are actually 10 in all, so only half of us could come. I can't imagine how crazy it will be someday if we all can all get together. (Karen, Kevin, Joyce, Luke, Me)

The great-grandchildren! Grammy only got to meet Anna out of all the kiddos in this picture! But, certainly, she's fond of them all and enjoys watching them from above.
Ben, Toby, Addie, Caleb, Colby, Anna, & Peyton.

Our folks all volunteered to watch the kids for us so that we could go into Chicago for the day. We had a great time...and got a lot of blisters!!!

A cool piece of artwork. It's a huge bean that allows you to see the city skyline!!

Addie with Memaw and Epa reading books before bed. She was such a trooper. She didn't get to bed until 10:00 many nights but she did great at getting to sleep and taking her naps anyway!

Most of us at a pub in Naperville, IL. I'm excited to see everyone again next time!

This one's for DADDY!

Micah is in Ohio for a conference and has been gone the entire weekend. We've kept busy with Memaw and Epa but we still missed daddy!

Here she is before church this morning. Just as expected, the piggy tails were out when we picked her up in the nursery afterwards.

Addie decided to write on mommy and herself this evening in the bathtub.

I think I know why they call this phase "the terrible twos". Addie has been doing everything exactly opposite of what I ask. If I ask her to hand me her cup, she throws it. If I ask her to stay in our yard, she runs onto the neighbor's porch. It's been quite a challenge trying to be stern with her and let her know that it's not a game to disobey mommy. Meanwhile, she is laughing the entire time!!! Ugh!!!

She's also saying some of the cutest things....
Last week, in the car, we had a conversation that went like this:

A: Mommy, I hurt my pants.
Me: You hurt your pants? Or your pants hurt you?
A: Yes.
Me: Where does it hurt?
A: My belly button.
Me: (thinking that she is probably about ready to out grow her 18 M skirt) Can you unbutton your pants?
A: I can't!!!
M: (coaching her through it.)
A: That's better!

I later learned that she didn't unbutton her pants at all, but that the snap was chaffing up against her tummy. What a funny conversation!

She'll also tell me that someone who's sad in a book, or movie, "needs a binkie" or "Her needs her mommy."

Noah, Kaden, & Addie at the zoo. We get together every Tuesday with several other friends. This is the best shot we could get on this playdate.

These pics are from a couple weekends ago:

School's out for Summer!

*** Kudos to Carrie and Wendy! I resized these two photos and it took less than 5 seconds for it to upload. Your expertise has given me my life back!!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

******************************************************

Our sweet little girl is all TALK nowadays. She's seriously holding real conversations with us. Unbelievable....how fast things change!

We did absolutely nothing this weekend and it was wonderful. Things have been so crazy lately with showers & "outings". So we just had a lazy weekend, playing outside, going out to eat, getting ice cream, & watching movies. That about sums up our last few days.

Some Addieisms to share:

  • "So what's going on here?" she asks her daddy while he was on the computer.
  • She loves to stack blocks and make huge towers (with her tongue out, of course).
  • She likes to put felt pieces from her felt board on our shoulders. This is really fun and entertains her for quite some time.
  • Addie still loves to pour water so we ended up getting her a water table. So far, it's been a great buy. It keeps her occupied while I water the plants.
  • Which leads me to another thing she loves to do now...water our plants with the new spray hose nozzle. She loves to make the dogs (and her mommy) run like the dickens.
  • She has our neighbors (all of them) wrapped around her fingers. They love to come out and visit her and think she's the best little person. She's very good at remembering all their names and loves to wave to them across the street.
  • Addie stalls BIG time when it comes to bed now.

Kaylee & Lucas are still such sweetie pies. They don't make the blog as much as they should....I love them to pieces.

Kaylee helped me one afternoon when I was cleaning out my car. She decided to take a break. Eating cheerios & goldfish off the floorboard of the car is EXHAUSTING!

BTW: I don't believe anyone would still blog if you had to put up with my stupid internet connection. I've been trying to upload for over an hour now and still have only 3 pictures that uploaded successfully. We know it's not just our computer b/c we use Micah's new laptop and it's still slow. It must be something with our wiring. I'm so bummed b/c we have some great videos and sweet pictures, but it takes hours to upload them!

Don't Laugh

BUT...I'm now a Mary Kay Consultant. I never thought in a million years I would do this. I sold CUTCO one summer in college and HATED it. However, my neighbor invited me to a facial party and I loved their skin care products. I just so happened to be in the market for needing some...and voila...It was there right before my eyes. I started to think..."Wouldn't it be great if I got to buy Mary Kay 1/2 off & make some money this summer too?" (my PAT job does not continue through the summer). I caved BIG TIME! I now have a huge inventory of Mary Kay products & am hoping to make my "investment" money back & possibly a profit, if things go my way.

SO....if anyone would love to help me out and let me do a "facial" or have a group of girls over for a party...Please give me a ring!!! I just so happen to be swimming in MK products! PS- there's also a skin care line for men too!

Okay, that's the last I will talk about it. I promise I won't be a bother to anyone...just wanted to get that tidbit of info out in case any of my fabulous friends are interested.

On to the pictures...and maybe a video:

Addie got a hold of a bottle of lotion downstairs while I was cooking dinner. This is how we found her.

Addie sticks her tongue out whenever she concentrates. Here she is "washing" dishes at the kitchen sink. She's obsessed lately with pouring and playing with water. I'm thinking she needs a water table.

Addie got into my jewelry box too. Here she is trying to put my toe ring on her wrist like a bracelet. Notice the tongue?

Mother's Day

Lucas was being teased by a squirrel in the backyard. The squirrel is on the tree chattering away. Lucas didn't move a muscle for a really long time. Finally, he gave up because I called him to to eat.

Memaw, Addie, Caleb, Toby, & Epa

I haven't blogged in ages b/c we have very slow upload speed and I have no patience. Sorry. Pictures might not be included in this post...depends on how much time I'm willing to give up during posting.

We spent the weekend with my folks and my sister's family. It was really great to see my nephews!!! They are so cute. My sister came in town for a wedding so we got to watch the kids on Saturday night along with my parents.

Addie & Daddy hanging out in the hallway.

Overall, I had a great Mother's Day. It's always nice to be with family and any day with Addie is always entertaining. We went out for brunch on Sunday & went to T-town for a day at the park on Monday.

I've been swamped with work trying to close up my files for the end of the year. I've also been having a difficult time sleeping. I've struggled with insomnia since Addie was 5 mos. old. I'd actually been doing very well until around Easter when it started all over again. I'm very distressed and trying to figure things out. My burning eyes and foggy, muddled thinking is pretty much a normal feeling for me. So...if you see me next and I look like I'm 10 years older and strung out on drugs, now you know why.

Anyway, I'll try not to be so depressing and get to the fun part....Addie Sue.

I truly am so blessed to be her mommy. I know that I have so many things going for me (even if sleeping isn't one of them). I love my job, my family, my neighbors, my dogs. I have many friends who I can trust & enjoy being with.

Miss Addie Sue is quite a character. She talks very well now and has no problem telling you what she wants. She's also doing a little pout thing when she doesn't get her way. She sings songs, dances in circles & loves to swing on her new playground.

Finally, I got pictures to post:

Addie is all dressed up and ready for Mother's day brunch (Addie decided she needed the hat & gloves).

Addie and Toby had fun playing with the water fountains at Memaw's work last Monday.
